Lambeth Council wanted to create a campaign to educate young Londoners in their borough about the risks of sexual health; including STI’s, contraception, safe sex, pregnancy and parenthood.
In order to break down taboos around sex and eliminate any embarrassment around the subject, Latimer recruited a group of young voices from Lambeth, and gathered insight from them in order to generate campaign ideas that would land with their peers in the community; motivating them to tackle sexual health head on.
The result was “LevelUp!”- a platform created by young people, for young people, revolutionising the way we talk about sexual health. The young creatives came up with campaign ideas, messaging and talent. They suggested working with Lambeth local Stormzy, to promote the message to the community and area that he’d grown up in.
Stormzy and the young co-creators generated a spoken word video, which they co-produced together and distributed organically on Stormzy’s Official YouTube channel, generating 340,000 organic views.
The content provoked thousands of positive social engagements and comments from his audience, who acknowledged the message and commended him for lending his voice to the message. Lesson plans were created for 14+’s and made available for education & healthcare professionals, to increase knowledge around contraception.
